  1.   Library

Students can use the library located at the campus Paardenmarkt. The library is situated at ground level near one of the school’s monumental entrances (No. 94), and is just like the school’s façade of great historic value. The collection includes books (for loan), reference works, standards, journals and CD-ROMs, as well as 10 multimedia PCs with Internet access to be used by the students. The general catalogue is to be consulted on-line and is incorporated in the ANET network, managed by the University of Antwerp. The inter-library loan system allows staff as well as students to obtain works from institutional and company libraries all over Belgium and to some extent abroad, if they are part of the system (e.g. T.U. Delft).

Apart from this library, both campus Paardenmarkt and campus Mechelen have seminar libraries with loan facilities to be agreed on by the responsible staff.
Students can also freely use the library facilities offered by the other departments of the Artesis Hogeschool Antwerpen. (See: ECTS information package; general information on Artesis Hogeschool Antwerpen)

The University of Antwerp (UA) offers limited access to Artesis Hogeschool students, i.e. for use of the reading room with possibilities to photocopy periodical articles and to consult the on-line catalogues and Internet. Talks on agreements for direct loan facilities are on hand.

  2.   Labs

As can be expected in a technology department, laboratory facilities are abound in all  divisions, with state-of-the-art equipment such as e.g. high-tech control and testing systems, computerized lathes and milling machines, sophisticated electronic and telecommunication systems with direct links to companies, an internal Intranet network, high-grade chemical labs,... A very high proportion of the departmental budget is yearly allocated to upgrading all machinery and equipment. The lab opening hours are linked to the individual staff working schedule, although many labs offer virtual non-stop access based on mutual staff/student arrangements. In every division on the campus Paardenmarkt students also have access to the Internet. The campus Mechelen has a students’ self-study centre.
