the information for the 2010-2011 academic year has been updated
Registration (enrolment) for Erasmus students takes place through the Erasmus registration documents. These documents are distributed to all Erasmus partner institutions (more specifically the faculties or departments concerned) in the period of June (preceding the next academic year); and they are available on this site.
Erasmus students can be admitted only when an agreement between the specific departments or faculties of both the home and guest university exists. Erasmus students are not required to pay tuition fees.
In order to facilitate registration at the Artesis Hogeschool Antwerpen, these students are asked to bring with them the following:
- a document from their home university, describing their status as an Erasmus exchange student
- a valid passport (when necessary with visa and/or residence permit) or a valid identity card (for students from European Union member states)
- 6 passport-size photographs
- proof of health insurance
After registration at the department where they take their study programme, they will be issued a student card of the Artesis Hogeschool Antwerpen. This student card is needed to prove their status as a student, f.e. when they present themselves at the library of another department.
Dutch Language Courses
Students, participating in international exchange programmes (such as Erasmus) are advised to participate in a Dutch language course. The academic quality of their study programme will benefit from this language preparation. This is all the more true if the student will study for a complete academic year at one of the departments of the Artesis Hogeschool Antwerpen.
For this reason the Artesis Hogeschool Antwerpen organises a Dutch language course before the start of the academic year (in 2010: from September 6 until September 17). Registration takes place through the specific registration document on this website.
Other Dutch language courses are offered:

Accommodation
The Artesis Hogeschool Antwerpen does not operate student housing of its own. Students -Flemish and international - rent rooms offered on the private market. The supply of student rooms on the private market is slightly larger then the need. It may prove to be difficult to find accommodation in the centre of the city. Students are advised to arrive in advance of their study period in order to spend enough time to look for an appropriate room, studio or appartment.
International exchange students (Erasmus, …) are offered assistance in the department, where they will study. To benefit from this assistance these students have to register through the specific registration document ‘Arrival form', which is available below. Students are advised to contact the international co-ordinator of the department (and study program) where they will study. For study periods of less than an academic year (f.e. one semester) it may prove interesting to rent the accommodation of an Antwerp student, who is participating in the Erasmus-program as well.
International regular students can -upon arrival- apply to the Social Service of the Artesis Hogeschool Antwerpen. In that case they get information on suitable accommodation, available in the city of Antwerp at that moment. This information is also available in the department, where they register as a regular student. The Social Service can be contacted at sovoha@artesis.be (www.artesis.be/sovoha).
International students -exchange or regular- who arrive well in advance or during the summer months (to participate f.e. in a Dutch language course), can look for temporary accommodation at (a.o.):
Study Programme (for Erasmus exchange students):
Erasmus exchange students are asked to fill in the ‘ECTS Student Application Form’ (below) and mail or fax this back to the Erasmus co-ordinator, mentioned in the list. Erasmus-students, registering for the programmes of architecture, interior architecture or product development (industrial design) are asked to fill in the application form, available on the departmental website: www.artesis.be/architectuurwetenschappen and www.artesis.be/productontwikkeling
It is suggested that you:
1. first save the document(s) to your computer (right-click: save as...)
2. fill out the document (don't forget to save)
3. send it back by e-mail (don't forget to attach the document)
OR
3. print it out (in order to be able to fax it)
